Product Description
The gantry shear—also known as a gantry-style hydraulic shearing machine—is a heavy-duty, cold-state hydraulic shearing unit featuring a gantry-frame structure. It utilizes a high-power hydraulic system to generate immense shearing force, cutting large pieces of scrap metal into smaller fragments suitable for furnace charging. Widely used in scrap steel recycling, steel mills, and vehicle or ship dismantling facilities, it serves as core equipment for scrap metal pre-processing.

Working Principle of the Gantry Hydraulic Shear:
Powered by hydraulics and utilizing a guillotine-style shearing mechanism:
1. A material handler or overhead crane loads scrap into the long feed box; a side-compression cylinder can first compress oversized materials.
2. A pusher cylinder advances the material to the cutting zone, while a hold-down cylinder clamps the material firmly to prevent slippage during shearing.
3. The main shearing cylinder drives the upper blade downward; working in conjunction with the fixed lower blade, it applies shearing force to the metal to complete the cut.
4. Once shearing is complete, the cylinders retract the upper blade and hold-down mechanism to prepare for the next cycle; the cut length is electronically adjustable.

Ferrous metals: Scrap steel plates, ship plates, I-beams, channel steel, angle steel, rails, round bars, steel pipes, rebar, scrap iron, heavy steel structural components, scrapped vehicle frames, metal bales, and other heavy scrap or thick materials.
Non-ferrous metals: Scrap copper, scrap aluminum, aluminum alloy profiles, copper plates, aluminum plates, etc.
