Solid Waste Shredders for Plastic Recycling Projects: Key Pre-processing Equipment for Plastic Recycling

In plastic recycling projects, efficient pre-processing of mixed plastic waste (such as PE film, PET bottles, PP lunch boxes, PVC pipes, and industrial waste plastics) is a core step in the recycling process. Traditional crushing equipment often suffers from inefficiencies due to problems such as “easily worn blades, entanglement and clogging, and uneven processing.” Solid waste shredders, specifically designed for plastic recycling, have become indispensable “wall breakers” in the plastic recycling chain through structural optimization and functional enhancement.

I. Design Breakthrough Precisely Adapted to Plastic Characteristics

Plastic recycling projects involve highly complex materials—including soft films (such as shopping bags and agricultural films), rigid injection-molded/blow-molded parts (such as plastic buckets and toys), and potentially mixed with impurities such as metal labels and stones. The solid waste shredder adopts a “dual-shaft shearing” core structure with a cutter roller diameter of 400-800mm. Equipped with high-toughness alloy blades (material CrMoV or SKD11, hardness HRC58-62), the staggered blades generate powerful shearing force, directly crushing large-volume plastics (5-50mm thick) into uniform particles of 10-50mm. Addressing the issue of film entanglement, the equipment integrates an “anti-entanglement guide plate” and an “intermittent cutter roller gap” design (adjustable 10-20mm) to prevent long fibers or films from knotting and jamming during the crushing process. Some models also feature a “pre-compression feeding device,” which compacts loose plastic through rollers, improving feeding stability and crushing efficiency.

II. High-Efficiency Processing and Sorting Synergy

This shredder has a processing capacity ranging from 500kg to 5 tons/hour (depending on the model), and can continuously process mixed plastic waste (moisture content ≤20%). During the crushing process, an integrated magnetic separator (removing ferromagnetic metals) and air separation module (separating light impurities) ensure the purity of the plastic entering subsequent washing and granulation stages. The blades are made with tungsten carbide overlay or surface hardening treatment, increasing wear resistance by more than 3 times. Combined with a water cooling system (reducing blade roller temperature), their lifespan can reach 3-5 times that of ordinary equipment. Key components (bearings, seals) are made of corrosion-resistant materials, resistant to the erosion of chemical additives (such as plasticizers and stabilizers) in plastics.

III. Resource Utilization Value and Environmental Benefits

The plastic granules processed by the shredder can be directly fed into the washing-drying-granulation line to be recycled into new plastic products such as PE and PP; they can also be used as an additive in RDF (waste-derived fuel) (calorific value 18-22 MJ/kg), replacing some coal in industrial kilns. Taking a recycling station processing 10 tons of plastic waste per day as an example, this equipment can produce 8-10 tons of uniform 10-30mm particles per hour, with a plastic recycling rate exceeding 95%, a metal sorting rate of >90%, dust emissions of <10mg/m³, and noise levels of <85dB. Its efficient and stable crushing capabilities not only reduce subsequent processing costs but also promote the transformation of plastic waste from an “environmental burden” to a “recyclable resource,” serving as core equipment support for the large-scale and professional development of plastic recycling projects.
